How to Check Driving Licence Status in India?

  • Visit the concerned transport website of your state because the website differs from state to state.
  • Once you enter the website, look for “Check the status of your Driving Licence” and then click on it.
  • Provide the necessary details like DL number, Date of Birth to access your details.
  • You can also check your driving licence status through the Sarathi Website of Road Transport and Highway Ministry
  • On the Sarathi website, click on the “Status of Licence” option under “National Register (DL) Queries”.
  • After selecting “Status of Licence”, provide necessary details like DL number, State, and Date of Birth, then click on “Submit”.
  • You will be able to access your details.

Things to consider while checking driving licence status online

It takes a minimum of two weeks for the RTO to dispatch a driving licence after the clearance of the driving licence test by the applicant at the RTO. Usually, a driving licence gets delivered within a period of one-month post-test clearance period. However, sometimes it takes more than one month due to delays in the process of verification or by postal services. One should wait a minimum of two weeks before checking the status of their driving licence. In case you couldn’t find your details even after a couple of weeks, check with your concerned RTO.
